ART adopt an evidence based approach to develop and deliver projects aimed at improving rivers and freshwater habitat. We collaborate with other stakeholders where possible to bring far reaching benefits.
Barrier Easements
ART are involved in identifying barriers to fish migration and where possible advising and/or supporting the installment of barrier easements.
Bank Restoration
Using a variety of green engineering techniques ART are able to stabilise riverbanks and address erosion.
Education
ART have a wealth of experience delivering education projects within communities and schools. We also offer opportunities for career development through internships and paid placements.
Invasive Weed Control
Giant hogweed, Japanese knotweed and Himalayan balsam are controlled by ART across Ayrshire.

Education
Since ART were formed, we have delivered many education projects over the years to primary and secondary schools within the local catchments and also engage with environmental undergraduates seeking experience.
Typical projects include:
- Fish in the classroom

- Invertebrate sampling
- Education on river ecology
- Attend open days, careers fairs and education outreach
