On Friday Galloway Fisheries Trust (GFT) brought the wet and windy weather to Ayrshire (they didn’t take it back either)! GFT recently bought a drone but with little experience they were keen to get some training and gain confidence with their craft.

Having recently been through CAA training and having accumulated a lot of flight time over the last two years, Struan and Stuart were able to talk Jamie and Jess about setup, legislation, flight zones etc.

Stuart explaining how to setup various parameters within the drones software.

Unfortunately the weather was wet and windy which is not an ideal combination for using a drone. However we dodged showers and managed some flight time. Having not flown more than 30m previously GFT were quickly and confidently flying their drone out to 500m (the legal limit).

ART will be providing training through FMS later in the spring to help other Trusts’ gain confidence and skills in flying and using drones.

The back of Stuart’s Landrover got a whole lot more expensive on Friday!
