Would you like to play a part in helping to lead an important Ayrshire charity?
The Ayrshire Rivers Trust (the Trust) is a leading environmental charity. The aims of the Trust are to promote and support initiatives designed to conserve, enhance and develop our fisheries for the enjoyment of current and future generations, and to preserve a valuable part of our natural heritage. These objectives are achieved through
a mixed programme of education; monitoring and advice; consultancy, and hands on conservation and
restoration work. The Trust currently employs five full time and one part-time dedicated and
enthusiastic members of staff and is based near Mauchline, Ayrshire.
The Trust is seeking to appoint new Trustees to enhance the skill-set within our Board and to provide
support and expertise to the Trust and staff.
The Trust is a Scottish Registered Charity SC030426, formed in 2000. It aims to improve the quality of
our rivers, lochs and burns and so reverse the significant decline in freshwater fish stocks.
The Trust is a small, successful organisation. It is looking for new Trustees to be involved in helping
steer the vision and direction of the Trust.
The Trust requires a diverse range of skills to ensure sustainability and long-term success. As a charity
the Trustees are constantly looking out for opportunities to advance the cause of the Trust and ensure
activities are in line with the requirements of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).
• The Trust would particularly welcome applications from those with leadership skills, strategic
thinking, charity governance and stewardship, advocacy skills, and risk management skills.
• Experience or knowledge of environmental or rural affairs, or financial management, or grant
funding is desirable.
The Trustees hold monthly meetings which can be attended either in person or via Zoom.
