The scale reading analysis report of the escaped farmed salmon from Carradale in 2020 reported captured by anglers is now available.
ART undertook the scale reading analysis of samples provided by anglers. Our findings were largely corroborated by Marine Science Scotland.
Anglers were at least 95% correct when identifying these fish as escaped. Their distribution in rivers was restricted to the lower reaches with one exception which came from Loch Lomond.
The report indicates a minimum number of salmon that entered our rivers as we are aware there were others captured and not reported.
The report is published on Fishery Management Scotland web site and was co authored by Polly Burns and Alan Wells of Fishery Management Scotland and Suart Brabbs of Ayrshire Rivers Trust.
We gratefully acknowledge those that contributed.
