During the holidays I received a call informing me of a landslide upstream of Catrine Dam. Over a week since the incident took place and the bank is still moving. I’m not sure who owns the woodland at this point but I do feel that there are implications for the operation of the proposed Hydro Scheme. This isn’t the first landslide on this banking that I’m aware of, not so many years ago there was another but smaller slide just a few metres downstream. Trees and soil are lying in the river and will undoubtedly end up washing downstream and possibly onto the sluice gates for the voes and hydro.
I’m not sure what can be done to stabilise this bank as there is no access for machinery and the bank is very steep. I suppose we will have to wait and see.
