Ayrshire Rivers Trust are currently looking for a seasonal invasive weeds officer.
The trust currently requires a Seasonal Invasive Weeds Officer, to promote the sustainable control of invasive non-native plant species within Ayrshire. ART have entered into an EU part funded project from 2010 – 14, the name of this project is ‘Controlling priority invasive non-native riparian plants and restoring native biodiversity (CIRB)’. ART are looking for a seasonal officer to help deliver the aims of this project during the control months. Key roles include tendering process, monitoring contractors, managing volunteers, awareness raising and identification and control of the invasive non-native species (INNS).
The ideal candidate will be physically fit, as they will be lifting heavy equipment, highly motivated, have knowledge and experience working with INNS. Understanding of surveying techniques and control methods are essential. Good written and oral skills along with a full clean driving license are essential. This position is for a 9 month 0.6fte contract (Feb – Oct) with a starting salary of £15,000.00 pro rata.
