Sadly, Meryl, our Carrick Invasive Species officer has now ended her two year contract with the Trust and is moving on to start a similar post in North Wales. Her project was highly successful training many volunteers within the Carrick area to appropriate standards in spraying and brush cutting. What’s more, Meryl quickly managed to tackle miles of Japanese knotweed and Himalayan balsam along the Girvan and Stinchar with her band of willing volunteers.
We all owe her a vote of thanks as I’m sure the legacy of her time with us will be felt for many years.
The staff took her out for dinner last night to Souters at Kirkoswald to say farewell and we a great evening in the newly refurbished restaurant (well worth a visit if you are in the area). I’m sure I can speak for everyone and wish Meryl every success in the future with her new job.
