Looking at rivers and burns from above can be revealing and help us to understand why certain problems occur. This video of the middle Girvan illustrates some but not all the problems we see. It was shot with our drone while looking for problems that we can rectify through the Carrick restoration Project that we are delivering.
We are not criticising landowners but merely pointing out ways the river could be improved. In some cases such as this stretch of the Girvan, there have been many morphological alterations over centuries and this makes restoration impossible although improvements could be made.
