Last week we were joined on the Mauchline Burn by the
Dunbia Group who donated £1000 towards planting trees across the project area. Despite it being a very dreich morning we planted around 150 trees with the group which was a massive boost to the burn. Ian and our Vice-Chairman Allan finished planting another 150 trees on the Friday bringing the total to 300.

Our planting team for the morning, we’re very grateful to the Dunbia Group for their generous donation and their time.

We worked across a recently fenced section of the burn to plant trees around eroding banks with the aim of bringing stability to the banks and protect against future erosion.

We greatly appreciate the donation and the time given to help with the planting.
This project was primarily supported by the Wild Fisheries Fund, with support from the Ayr District Salmon Fishery Board, ourselves and Ivy Bank Vets. Everyone’s input makes a difference and allows us to deliver more to bring benefit to both the water and terrestrial environment.

A willow just coming into leaf, we’re at the end of the planting season with just a few jobs to finish up now.

We’ve been planting a lot of trees that we’ve propagated and grown on in our tree nursery. A mixture of alder, willow and birch were planted across the site.

Hard at work – despite the rain! The upside was the trees didn’t require watering in – every cloud!

We’re grateful to the Muir Farm for their help in delivering this very valuable project.
