By now, there are pictures circulating on social media re a serious pollution incident on the River Ayr at Catrine.
We are aware and were in attendance within 15 minutes of hearing of problems. We can’t state any more than the Board have been kept informed throughout the day and we will continue to update them as necessary. SEPA were also in attendance and on site around the same time as us. They are conducting their own investigations.
Anglers are asked not to remove dead fish from the water but instead to send us a message through this platform so we may attend and gather the evidence. If anyone removes dead salmon or sea trout then they are breaking the Law and ruining the evidence that could otherwise be needed should further action be required. Images are helpful if provided with a tiem and location.
Please let us know immediately if you see fish in trouble or dead and let us know exactly where. We will do our best to attend to any reports over the weekend.
